HealthCare Clinical Laboratory is locally owned and operated and is committed to providing quality laboratory work through a program of accreditations and internal and external proficiency testing. The Medical Directors are board certified Pathologists in both Clinical and Anatomical Pathology, which enables the laboratory to provide timely consultation on laboratory results.
The goal of St. Joseph's Medical Center and its many services is to provide comprehensive high quality medical care in a caring and cost effective manner to the medical communities of San Joaquin and adjacent counties.

Our medical directors and the senior members of our technical staff are always available for telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have pertaining to interpretations and methodologies of laboratory tests and results.

Our customer service staff can answer your questions regarding specimen requirements, reports, and billing services. We call all critical values to the ordering physician.
Those procedures not performed by our laboratory, are forwarded to a selected reference laboratory. Reference laboratories are chosen for quality, reliability, and service and must be certified by the same agencies which certify our own laboratory or by the CDC at the national level. New procedures are regularly developed and should you find a procedure not listed, please call our customer service department for information concerning availability.

Testing accuracy is dependent upon careful attention to collection technique and specimen preparation. A quality laboratory result starts with the collection and handling of the specimen. If there are any questions regarding the specimen, the laboratory will call to clarify these matters.

We offer a limited courier service to pick up specimens and deliver them back to the laboratory for testing. Please contact us for a courier service evaluation and set up.
Our couriers will also transport supply requests, supplies and reports requested by the facility/client.

Client/Facility Transporting Responsibilities
Upon calling for specimen pick-up, please provide the following information to our dispatch center.
Include a copy of the patient's insurance identification card for billing purposes.
Place each specimen in a sealed transport bag with a completed requisition form and insurance information. Ensure documents do not have direct contact with the specimen in the event of spillage.

The laboratory subscribes to national proficiency testing programs from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and internal quality control samples which are frequently interspersed with patients samples to detect any deviations in accuracy.
The laboratory is also accredited by the College of American Pathologists which is a rigorous peer review of the laboratory’s standards of practice. The California Department of Health Services inspects and certifies HealthCare for Medicare and Medi-Cal testing. The Medical Center based Blood Banking Department subscribes to proficiency testing.

We provide laboratory services throughout the Dignity Health system within the state of California while maintaining our leadership in our own community in the San Joaquin Valley. We strive to provide clients with optimal access to our services while representing the Mission of St. Joseph’s Medical Center and Dignity Health.
