Congratulations to the maternity center at St. Francis Hospital, which was honored in February as a bronze-level Center of Excellence (COE) by the CommonSpirit Health Women and Infants Clinical Institute Executive Council. Maternity centers designated as a COE have a proven record of outstanding care. The award is based on FY22 quality data and overall accomplishments of the maternity center, and are evaluated based on the top seven performance metrics:
- Severe Maternal Morbidity (SMM)
- Early Elective Delivery (PC-01)
- Unexpected Newborn Complications (PC-0.61)
- Low Risk C-section (SMFM)
- Patient Experience
- Maternal Hypertension (TJC-Maternal Safety)
- Maternal Hemorrhage
As a bronze-designated COE, the SFH maternity center met the first five of the seven performance measures listed above. SFH is the only hospital across the Pacific Northwest division to receive the honor. Out of the entire CommonSpirit Health system across the U.S., 44 of its 65 maternity centers applied for the award, with only seven sites meeting five or more of the performance metrics required to attain the Center of Excellence distinction. Congratulations again to all staff and providers of the SFH maternity center for the great quality and ongoing work to provide excellent care for the families and communities that you serve.
