Beginning today (March 22), CommonSpirit Health employees can only use Google Chrome extensions and Google Workspace add-ons that have been approved by Cybersecurity. Chrome extensions or Workspace add-ons are small tools that are primarily designed to enhance work efficiency. Common examples include tools that help you block ads, capture screen grabs or add a dark-mode view to websites.
Similar to any other software, tools that are developed by unknown sources can create an entry point for malware, data theft or unauthorized access. For security enhancements, CommonSpirit has categorized more than 125 accessible Chrome extensions and Workspace add-ons as:
Employees are encouraged to review the current list of Chrome extensions and Workspace add-ons. As of March 22, unapproved extensions and add-ons will be blocked and automatically removed from your browser.
If you have a business need for a Chrome extension or Workspace add-on that is not listed, please submit a request as soon as possible to have it reviewed.
